| Before
mounting the system, locate a site preferably within 6 feet of the
engines with sufficient space under or near the unit to position a
bucket or other container for waste and new oil. (A five gallon bucket
is approximately 18" high and 12" in diameter.) Install
fittings to the valves and the ill/ discharge fitting to accept the size
of the hose you plan to use. A minimum 1/2" ID hose is recommended.
5/8" hose is preferred for all hose runs over 7 feet. Use a wrench
to hold the valves from rotating when installing the hose fittings.
Apply pipe sealant or thread tape to all fittings installed in the
valves.
NOTE:
The valves have a 1/2" NPT female thread (National Pipe Thread)
The
fill/ discharge fitting is 1/2" SAE male flare
Once
the fittings are installed in the valves and fill/ discharge fitting,
the system is ready to mount. The oil pump system can be mounted in any
orientation, except with the pump head above the motor. It is not
recommended that the pump head be mounted above the motor.
Use
a minimum of four (4) #10 (5mm) self-tapping screws to mount the 702,
703 and 704 systems and six (6) fasteners to mount the 705 and 706
systems. Install fasteners of sufficient length to support the system. A
minimum of 1/2" (13mm) penetration past the bottom of the base
plate is recommended. The base plate is 1/2" (12.7mm) thick.
Install
oil pan fittings to the engines that will be serviced by the system.
Insure that the drain fitting has a minimum internal diameter (bore) of
1/4" (6mm). (REVERSO carries a complete line of oil pan fittings
for most engines, generators and transmissions ). Install the proper
hose connection to the pan fitting to accept the size hose chosen.
(1/2" min.) Avoid the use of elbows or any other tight bends in the
hose runs that would restrict the flow of oil. Install a clamp or strap
every 18" (45cm) to adequately support the hose.
Prime
the pump before initial use to insure long impeller life. See operating
instructions.
ELECTRICAL
CONNECTION
Use
a minimum of #14 gauge wire to connect the system. A euro-type terminal
strip has been provided to aid in the wiring connections. Loosen the two
screws on the terminal strip which do not contain any wires. Locate a
source of power that matches the voltage requirement of the pump motor.
Connect the hot lead from the power source to the side of the terminal
strip opposite the red wire and connect the common lead to the terminal
opposite the black wire. If a circuit breaker is to be installed in the
wiring circuit, use a 20 amp breaker for a 12 volt system and a 10 amp
breaker for a 24 volt system. The start-up load will cause a smaller
breaker to trip.
