| Installation
Choose
a mounting location which provides accessibility to the end plate of the
pump, in order to facilitate future impeller changes, and provides a
hose run under ten feet.
Mount
the pump by drilling four holes corresponding to the holes in the base
plate.
The
pump head has ports on either side which can be used interchangeably as
the supply or discharge, as the motor is reversible. The ports are
externally threaded with 3/4" hose threads and internally threaded
with 3/8" pipe thread. 1/2" or 5/8" hose is recommended
for connection to the engine; smaller hose is not recommended. Choose
fittings which fit the hose size selected. We carry a full line of hose
fittings and pan fittings for most engines.
Electrical
Connection
Use
a minimum #14 gauge wire to connect the pump. Connect the positive lead
to the orange or red wire and connect the common lead to the black wire.
If a circuit breaker is to be installed in the circuit, use a 20 amp
breaker as the start-up load will cause a smaller circuit breaker to
trip.
System
Priming
To
avoid unnecessary wear on the impeller do not run it dry. It is necessary
to prime the pump with oil before initial use.
1.
Pour a small amount of oil (3 oz) into the fill/ discharge hose. Allow
this oil to run into the pump head
2.
Place the fill/ discharge hose in a container of new oil.
3.
Operate the pump for a few seconds to draw oil into this line.
Once
the system is primed, this procedure does not have to be repeated again.
The residual oil in the line is sufficient to lubricate the impeller for
subsequent oil changes. |
